our history

Thomas H. Terrell (1938 - 2010)

Ford Gale Lacey (1927-1982) founded our law firm in the early 1960’s.  Ford was described by Judges as one of the best trial lawyers in the area. In 1969, Thomas H. Terrell (1938-2010) joined the firm, and it became known as Lacey & Terrell.

Tom and Ford began to focus more on the business side of the practice of law and represented nationally known companies.  Carl A. Heldt III joined the firm as an associate in 1970, and thereafter, Joseph W. Annakin (1939-2019) joined the firm as a partner and it became known as Lacey, Terrell & Annakin.

Joe, already a seasoned trial attorney and former Assistant U.S. Attorney, led the litigation side of the firm’s practice.  Carl continued as a part-time Assistant Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and joined Joe in the litigation side of the firm.  Carl became a partner shortly thereafter and the firm became known as Lacey, Terrell, Annakin & Heldt.

Jerry P. Baugh (1933-2015) joined the firm a few years later and it became known as Lacey, Terrell, Annakin, Heldt & Baugh.  Jerry focused on representing businesses and individuals.

Carl was appointed as Vanderburgh Circuit Court Judge by Indiana Governor Frank O’Bannon in 1998. Thereafter the firm was known as Terrell, Baugh Salmon & Born, LLP, until 2021, when it became known as Terrell, Born, Sullivan & Fiester, LLP.
